Volmax (Aviator, Buran, Sturmanskie, RChZ): Brand Information
Volmax is a Moscow-based company that manufacturers the Aviator, Buran and Sturmanskie watch brands. Their newest brand is Russian Watch Factory, which is also known as RChZ. Volmax was formed in 2000 by former Poljot employees. The company purchased equipment from the First Moscow Watch Factory after Poljot scaled back production. Volmax describes their company as being "built on the ashes of the First Moscow Watch Factory empire". In other words, Volmax is a young company built on the history of the First Moscow Watch Factory. Most Volmax watches use Russian movements. Others use Swiss movements supplied by ETA. Some retailers refer to Volmax watches as Poljot watches. However, this is not strictly accurate. Volmax watches do not use the Poljot brand name or logo on their watches. However, some do use Poljot movements. Volmax watches are not cheap. These are quality watches with a very good level of finish. An entry-level Aviator watch costs about $150. Many Volmax watches sell for between $500 and $1000. Some cost much more. Many Volmax watches fit in the category of "limited edition" or "collectors" watches. Sample Models Below are photos of a few typical Volmax watches currently on the market.
