Volmax (Aviator, Buran, Sturmanskie, RChZ): Brand Information
Updated 30 May 2009 by Editor, RussianWatchGuide.com See also Sturmanskie and Buran
Volmax is a Moscow-based company that manufactures the Aviator, Buran and Sturmanskie watch brands. Their newest brand is Russian Watch Factory, which is also known as RChZ.
Volmax was formed in 2000 by former Poljot employees. The company purchased equipment from the First Moscow Watch Factory after Poljot scaled back production. Volmax describes their company as being "built on the ashes of the First Moscow Watch Factory empire". In other words, Volmax is a young company built on the history of the First Moscow Watch Factory. Most Volmax watches use Russian movements. Others use Swiss movements supplied by ETA. Some retailers refer to Volmax watches as Poljot watches. However, this is not strictly accurate. Volmax watches do not use the Poljot brand name or logo on their watches. However, some do use Poljot movements. Volmax watches are not cheap. These are quality watches with a very good level of finish. An entry-level Aviator watch costs about $150. Many Volmax watches sell for between $500 and $1000. Some cost much more. Many Volmax watches fit in the category of "limited edition" or "collectors" watches. Reviews See the Aviator 45mm review and Aviator 26669 review. Where to Buy The best place to buy a Volmax watch is from an official, authorized retailer. great watch and vfm. from poljot 24 de. This information is wrong !!! they do not manufacture watches. they assemble that's it... Also their movement IS NOT Poljot, but MakTime that is much worth in terms of quality The following information is not correct "The company purchased equipment from the First Moscow Watch Factory after Poljot scaled back production" It was the russian company Maktime who purchased the equipment of FMWF and still is producing all the movements. Chris, the USA distributor for Volmax (Aviator) is Detente Distributing. The URL is http://www.detentewatches.com/ I have a Poljot Aviator chronograph that I purchased in 2006. The watch does not work at all, I can't wind it or even adjust the dials. I need to have it repaired but am unsure of where to have it done. I know there was a US distributor a couple of years ago, but I can't find their site or info about it. The factory site also isn't available. I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction. I live in Massachusetts USA. Good watches. Right up there with Rolex, Omega at a fraction of the price |
