Review: Rekord Standard Automatic
Updated 13 May 2008 by Editor, RussianWatchGuide.com I don't know a lot about Rekord watches. In fact, I had never even seen one before. That's one reason I purchased this watch. Another reason is the fact that it cost only $38 dollars and I simply can't resist buying a mechanical watch priced so low. Rekord makes several types of watches. This watch is part of their "Standard" line. Rekord "Premium" watches, which obviously are higher quality, sell for $300 and up. Although this watch looks nice and seems to run fine, I'm really not sure of the quality. I'm told it is assembled in a factory in Moscow, though I'm not certain that the internal movement is Russian-made. I suspect it is made in China. Certainly this watch does not appear to be of the same quality as the Vostok Amphibia I recently purchased for only $11 more. I still can't believe I paid only $49 for that watch. Nonetheless, I am enjoying having my new Rekord Standard on my wrist. It looks good there. It feels good. It's comfortable and light. I think I'll wear it quite often. By the way, I purchased the watch on eBay from The Zenitar Store.
