Review: Vostok 100 Series
Updated 19 Mar 2008 by Editor, RussianWatchGuide.com This watch is the reason I love Russian watches in general and Vostok watches in particular. It's a big, heavy watch that oozes quality. I wear it a lot and every time I put it on it amazes me that it cost less than $100. It's superb value for an automatic self-winding mechanical watch. The face is simple but unique with over-sized luminous arabic numbers, second hand and date feature. Otherwise, there are no special features, no bells and whistles. Just a solid mechanical watch that looks good and keeps good time. RussArmy, an online seller of Russian watches, describes the Vostok 100 Series "as very rugged and tough built as any sports watch made today... indestructible built to last with extremely tough case, domed acrylic crystal and movement, which will endure the toughest of conditions." They're right. I bang this watch around on a regular basis and have yet to damage it. You could probably hammer nails with it. The bracelet, like the rest of the watch, is heavy and solid. I didn't puchase the watch from RussArmy but rather from an eBay seller in early 2006. The Vostok 100 Series debuted in 2005. The watch is made in Russia.
