Chaika: Brand Information
Updated 23 Nov 2008 by Editor, RussianWatchGuide.com
The Chaika (Chayka) Watch Factory, located on the banks of the Volga river just north of Moscow, specializes in ornate women's watches. The factory has been making watches for more than 60 years.
Chaika watches are typically gold-plated, often heavily jeweled, and use Miyota quartz movements. Most models retail for between $250 and $5000.
According to KremlinGifts.com, a distributor of Chaika watches in the USA, the factory "complies with International Watch Standards (ISO 9001-2000) for durability and outstanding design."
sorry to post again ... when I said the numbers were in Roman Numerals, I meant on the face of the watch ... NOT the numbers on the back. I'm hoping this is vintage - so far, it works ok.
Marre - Wednesday, 16 November 2011, 20:27 GMT I have a gold plated ladies bracelet watch which has a covered watch face to match the filligre of the bracelet. It says Chaika under the 12 and 17 jewels by the # 6. Both words are in Russian (I googled and translated). It has an AU in small letters stamped on the bracelet (for gold??). The back case # is 217805. Numbers are in Roman Numerals. Any idea when this was made? Its beautiful but I would like to know more about it.Thanks
